OUR HOTEL and our ENVIRONMENT

Our Hotel, our owners and our staff are committed to minimizing the effects on our environment due to the activities involved in operating our Hotel. We have made a decision to be more conscious about the impact on our environment from operating our business and offer our guests the opportunity to help us reach our goals through an Eco Stay Program.

We have implemented a staff driven Environmental Committee, commonly known as the “ Green Footprints” whose responsibility includes :
 
  • Identifying, implementing and monitoring green initiatives focused on the reduction of energy, waste and recycling that can
  • improve our impact on the environment.
  • Communicate to and educate our guests and staff on our environmental policies. Promote environmental awareness and employee involvement.
  • Adopt an understanding of “buying green”, supporting suppliers who support green initiatives and will help us reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Take measures to reduce waste, recycle where possible, and implement additional saving opportunities where possible and monitor our progress.

 
By implementing proactive measures for responsible environmental management and participating in and adapting our daily practices, we can minimize the negative impact to our environment and maximize the benefits to our Eco System.
We have been awarded and designated as a 4 Green Key Hotel, by the Hotel Association of Canada.
Some of our recent initiatives include:

  
  • Low flow shower heads and aerators added to all faucets to reduce water consumption.
  • Replacing toilets to low flow in 2010 / 2011
  • Replacing all light bulbs with energy efficient compact florescent bulbs.
  • Energy efficient HVAC units, individually thermostatically controlled in guest rooms
  • Recycling / blue box program throughout the hotel and in all rooms and office paper is recycled.
  • New 32” Samsung LCD TV’s have an Energy Star Rating of 5
  • “Our Green Footprints” Environmental Committee organized and participated in an Earth Day Clean up of the area ditches around the hotel.
